News 151013 – The Synopsis
Hello everyone. I've had a persistent feeling that my Synopsis is not up to par, yet I can't write a good one myself. I've now written two, but could not accept them because they were hinting about things still to come, which I wouldn't want to spoil.
So, from what you've read, what do you think should be included in the Synopsis? If you worry about how to formulate it, don't. The help I need is mostly about what information should be included. I will likely rewrite any suggestion I get to suit my own writing-style, so what I actually need is the information that should be included in a Synopsis to catch the interest of potential readers.
I thank you in advance for your suggestions :)

  1. Information usually included would be the setting of the story/place and something along the lines of the protagonist overcoming obstacles.

    1. Thanks. I just had the thought I might be able to write a better synopsis, but the two I wrote made me feel like I was spoiling too much of hidden elements of the story, which I can't tolerate. I loathe it when I can read into and get information about important things that will happen in a story before I read it, so I'm probably biased to what can be put in a synopsis :|

Well, we'll see if I change the synopsis. I won't prioritize the synopsis at the detriment of the story, and I'd rather spend time writing and editing chapters.

  2. Personally i find your sinopsis good enough. It gave me a basic information about the setting and the premises, which are important, and you end it with a paragraph that hooks me (the reader) to want to know more.
I find myself interested in a lot of things quite easily so my judgment may be biased, but tha sinopsis brought me here, so I guess it's good enough. For me, at least.
    Keep up the good work!

It's good to know that the synopsis is effective enough to get readers interested. Those that get interested easily are probably among the majority of people. Reality can be so dull at times, so I'm like that too. I'd rather give something a chance than ignore something that might interest me.

This page was mostly a thought I had, and if I can improve by getting some advice it will be a good thing.

  3. It was good enough for me to start reading the LN yesterday (and finish it in one go).
You might want to explain the RPG element, the game setting and the goals of the character ingame. Where is he heading? The intial part of him transferring into the game/different universe (and dying in the process) is kind of irrelevant for the storyline I read.

    1. That's good, I'm glad you enjoyed the story enough to read it through in one go :)
And right now(up to Chapter 7), Jay is kind of confused with both the realism of the game and his abrupt loss of his personal memories, which I try to portray by lessening his attention span and having him lose focus on much that is happening around him. So, he's heading to where he can find a way to survive?
The RPG elements/settings and the character's goals will be shown as part of the story unraveling, so I don't want to include too much of that in the synopsis; and if I only include irrelevant things it would not by a synopsis anymore...
And did he die? Are you sure? I never expressed that with certainty, I thought it was quite clear that he would only die in real life if he died once in the game, but you might be right. I won't say either way. You'll just have to see later.
Right now it seems like I should keep the synopsis I wrote earlier until at least the first volume is finished, but I'm grateful for any input that might give me an idea of how the synopsis should be.

  4. This is a good story keep it up u might have a chance in the long run. It will be best if u have character arts or some some sort of mythodology.

I have created deeper back-stories; they aren't apparent in the first volume, however, but the story-line as it is right now can span more than a few volumes if I don't lose interest in writing it.

And I've also written quite a bit about how the game-systems work and will slowly show them through the story and the main character's tries to understand how the world he is trapped in works.
What do you mean by character arts?
