Hello Prospective Reader

Welcome to my writing-blog.
Here I intend to publish a story I've written. I'll post it chapter by chapter, week by week.
I have written the first book to completion, and only need to edit it before I can post it; because of this I will post at least one chapter every week, and during these weeks I will write the next book in the series. So, if you enjoy my writing, please tell me. I will greatly appreciate it!
I would also like to ask those of you that enjoy my story to tell others about it. The more readers I get the quicker I will post new chapters, because if I see people enjoying this story I become motivated to write.

Jason, having given up on life, yearns for a new beginning; when someone offers him that, with the added bonus of actually removing his war-haunted personal memories, how can he refuse? The only problem is: he'll be stuck in a game with lethal consequences.
Stuck in a game-world he cannot escape, Jay finds himself in worse shape than he ever thought he would be, only knowing that he has entered a game he must treat as reality. How will he survive? How will he cope with a reality that others can treat as a game, but he cannot?

Volume 1: God's Dream

Prologue 0: A Life Forlorn and Forgotten
It has come to my attention that some readers do not read beyond the Prologue. So, I would like to recommend that any of you that only have a little time to read start at the first chapter, and if you like what you've read after a few chapters you can go back and read the Prologue. The Prologue is not very important in the first volume, but later...?
Chapter 1: Failing Power
I amended the Prologue and put the most relevent parts of the Prologue for Volume 1 in the beginning of Chapter 1 for those of you that want to get into the in-game story right away.
Chapter 2: To Know; To Endure
Chapter 3: To Walk Forth
Chapter 8: Advancing
Interlude: Beneath the Surface
Chapter 9: Foul Findings
Chapter 10: Poisonous Essence
Chapter 11: Darkening Prospects
Chapter 13:
Chapter 14:

  1. Great work dude, i like this genre.
Btw, do you have read the webcomic "the gamer"? The mc also has the ability to gain skills based on what he do.

    1. Thanks. Every time I see someone say they like my writings, I can't help but smile :)
And yes, I've read The Gamer, and many other game-related stories such as Ark, Overlord, Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari, The New Gate, and others; they are partly my inspiration for this story, though only slightly. I believe reading stories help in creating my own, but also shows what to avoid as to not become a copy of another work.
I have to say, however, that in this game-world, anyone can learn skills based on their actions, not just the main character. It's a part of the game-system; it's just much easier for the main character to create his own skills because he was very unbalanced when he created his character and got a strange starting Skill and Title.

    2. Just the due to good writing.
I was not familiar with Ark and The new gate, and will remedy that.
Btw, another question: do you draw some mechanics of the game from current RPG? Like everyone can learn the skills and talents/spells of all classes as in runescape, or the player must decide a way to fight, like the majority of rpg, and have defined talents/spells trees like those of dragon age (meaning that if you want to conjure firestorms you must first learn how to throw fireballs and so on). Or has every character a blank check on growth, and asides basics spells, like the mana manipulation, the game can accomodate whichever spells they can create? (i always play as a mage/wizard so thats why i tend to focus on that).
Sorry for the brainpicking but, like i said, i really like this genre and is rare to have access to the author.

    3. :)
The game-mechanics are from lots of sources, but mostly my own imagination on how a great virtual reality game would be, mixed with knowledge of a few older RPGs I played in my childhood. I also spent a couple of months world-building and creating what I believe to be balanced, yet free, game-mechanics. Even now, I still build and refine the game-world when the inspiration strikes. And, although that information will mostly not be shown directly, it will influence how the story progresses.
Hopefully this doesn't spoil too much. I can tell right away that only the most basic Skills and Spells can be learned from all professions/vocations/classes by anyone that wants to learn them, but that is only if they have the prerequisites to learn the Skills/Spells, which aren't all Stats-related. There are also General Spells/Skills that can be learned by anyone at any time(Meditation and Mana Manipulation are such Spells/Skills), but most of the Spells and Skills that someone can learn can only be learned after they have the Profession corresponding to that specific Spell/Skill.
There isn't really a blank check on growth, but quite a lot of freedom for the players. However, you should never forget: if someone tries to be a jack of all trades, he becomes a master of none.
The Mana Manipulation Spell is called the foundation for all Spells, and using it, theoretically you could create all possible Spells, but that would take centuries of play-time. Creating a Spell by using Mana Manipulation takes inspiration, imagination, practice, and lots of time. Why do that when you can buy a Spell/Skill Scroll and learn it that way in a few minutes?
I could go into even more details, but I already feel that this is a bit of a spoiler, and I try my best to not spoil anything in any way other than really vaguely. You'll just have to wait and see, I will slowly unravel parts of the game-mechanics as part of Jay's character-growth.

  2. This book is so awsome!! My only regret is that I started reading it too soon and unfortunately have now finished all of the chapters and find myself like a coke addict that needs a hit :( I love the progression of the story and the intricate descriptions of the skills and feats that jay learns it kinda feels the exact same way most rpg games begin i recently just got into reading LNs and so far this and overlord are the only two i've read and whereas overlord started with the MC oped as hell your story started with your MC the exact opposite and both you and the writer of overlord have done a marvelous job with your respective MCs I look forward to reading more about jay's growth his struggles his failures his triumpths and his eventual development into a badass with eager anticipation unfortunately because i have read all of the chapters up to this point and because i am a quick reader i usually wait for multiple chapters to be released before i begin reading so as not too finish too quickly and suffer from deprivation lmao as for those saying that the pace is slow please please please people recognize when you have a work of literature pornagraphy before you and just sit back and enjoy the ride do not change anything with the way you are progressing it is going beautifully i literally was reading every chance i got thinking because of the detail that was put into the story so far would have had me in for a long read imagine my surprise when I got to the last chapter and clicked "next chapter" only to discover that was all I actually clicked back then next chapter again praying it was a mistake lol

    1. A bit late with the answer because of a week of illness, but better late than never... I hope.
First I must thank you, being compared to Overlord is an amazing compliment. I'll be smiling for hours because of that comparison :D
I'm the same as you, reading a good LN and then arriving at a place where the next chapter isn't published yet can really be heartbreaking. I've read many LNs and books, and can relate to that addicted feeling you get when you read something good. It's both painful and great because you can look forward to the next time you get to read it. Mostly painful though... if only I could read Chinese, Japanese and Korean I wouldn't have to wait for so many LNs to be translated x(
Too bad it would take a long time to learn even one of those languages.

Pacing in a story is important, and something I've realized after reading a lot is that the greatest of stories seldom keep to one kind of pacing and pace; they often go back and forth between fast and slow pacing in both story and character development (and other things).
I try my best to write things I enjoy reading too, and this story is among my better ones. Right now, I've written out a fairly long story-line on this story, but haven't written most of it in story-form yet, which I look forward to doing.
After I imagined the first arc in this story I spent a couple of months writing things related to the world, the story-line, the characters, the sub-plots and many different game-related ideas. And now I write down any idea I get and try and include it if I think it would improve upon the future story. I did and do this because I want to write something I would enjoy reading. It has always been my primary reason for writing; though I've wanted to write books as a job, the books I've sent to publishers haven't gotten any attention, unfortunately.

What kind of stories/genres do you enjoy reading? Maybe I can recommend something to you?

    2. You want to talk late here I am 2 months later just replying back lol well most of that is because I've been pretty busy reading my latest addiction The Gamer but alas I've completed that also, well I shouldn't say completed because I assume that where the writing stopped is not the end of the novel because it sorta ended mid battle which means I have probably caught up to the writer and must now wait in agony for the next chapter to come out (sigh) then I remembered your book and alas my addiction can be fed its been 2 months so I should have a healthy dose of Calyxia to carry me through the rest of the year (oh joy) I will be of course starting over from the beginning just to rewet my appetite. You asked what kind of stories/genres I like? well most anything with a fantasy rpg theme and elements of the same works for me books like overlord, the gamer and of course yours as well basically anything with a fantasy theme i'll read and anything that someone says is great i'll read regardless of the genre so recommend away I have recently though fell in love with the overpowered mc thanks to overlord so nobels along that line would definitely get first preference ahead of anything else so if you do recommend anything a small summary about the book would help me decide what i would read first but i will read all of your suggestions lol thanks in advance and please keep up the great work now i'm off to read Calyxia wooooootttt!!!

Why there's an outdated table of contents here? :)

    1. Thank you. And good question, I should maybe change that x)
I've seen that most people look at the table of content page and few look on this page, so I haven't spent much attention on this page.
